Objectives of Theological Institutes

The idea of gathering young theologians in the theological institute came within the framework of preparing for the Maputo assembly, which took place in December 2008.

The main aim of the theological institute was to give exposure to young Theologians and contribute to preparing the leadership of the church for the years to come. It helps to cross and break boundaries, both ethnic and denominational, once, and build the pan African vision among the young people. It also gives them new theological insights and encourages them to reflect creatively on African issues.

The 1st theological institute brought together 82 young theologians, both male and female, who came not only from Africa but also with participants from other continents.

The theological institute took place in Nairobi for 1 week in December 2009. The advisory committee on theology underlined the importance of these initiatives.
